Getting Started

Do you see clients in-person?
Yes, I see clients both in-person in San Jose and online throughout CA.

What happens after I reach out?
I’ll respond within 24 hours M-F and offer times to schedule a consultation call. This will give us time to say hello so you can get a feel for whether you’d like to work with me and I can understand whether my approach fits what you’re looking for.

What if I decide I don’t want to move forward?
That’s ok! I encourage meeting with multiple therapists to find a good fit.

And after I schedule my first session?
I will email you some paperwork, which includes practice policies and an intake questionnaire, as well as information for joining our first session, whether online or in-person.

What’s the office like?
Cozy. There are some photos throughout the site. I have options for fidgets, coloring books, art supplies, stuffed animals. You’re allowed to be comfortable here. I’m happy to share more information if you have any questions about what to expect on arrival, etc. I’m also happy to accommodate for sensory needs where possible.

Other FAQ

How much does therapy cost?
My fee is $150 per 50 minute session.

Do you take insurance?
I don’t. I am happy to provide a superbill upon request, which has information for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan.

How does payment work?
I collect payment at each session; they cannot be paid in advance or in bulk. Payments are accepted by cash or credit card.

Will I need to come every week?
In the beginning, yes. It’s important for us to spend time getting acquainted and aligning on goals and approach. More sporadic meetings work against needed momentum in this area. Of course, you can stop therapy any time.

What if we’re not a good fit after we meet?
If this happens and you are willing to let me know, I might be able to help you identify an approach that is a better fit or offer a referral.

What is the first session like?
We will start where you are, which means welcoming your feelings, hesitations, questions, etc. I’m often told that I am comfortable to talk to. I may ask follow-up questions based on your intake questionnaire, and there will be space for us to talk more about what brings you in.

I see you’re into art. Are you going to make me do collages?
Haha I would never, but the supplies are available! Some clients like using art, some don’t.
